Othman worked at the Al Bayan Newspaper in 1983 and was the head of the photography department. The newspaper was established in 1980 by the Dubai government. Working at Al Bayan gave Othman the freedom to express himself. He never was without his Olympus Om10 35mm camera. He also liked to use a Rolleiflex medium format view finder and Nixon 35mm camera.

Othman loved spending time in the darkroom developing and creating abstract images using double exposure tecniques which illustrated stories. Othman's photographs were also published for important news coverage. Othman photographed Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nayan of Abu Dhabi, the founder of the United Arab Emirates. He was assigned as Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktuoms photographer. He also photographed the Sheikh of Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern leaders. Othman photographed Prince Charles and Princess Anne. He was assigned as Princess Annes photographer whilst she visited Dubai in the70's. At the end of her visit Othman presented her a photo album of all the places she had visited of which he photographed. Othman also attended and photographed the tournament of the 27th Chess Olympiad in 1986. He also attended other sporting events like football, horse racing and camel racing.

Othman's abstract photography was often published in the newspaper with poetry ,written by a poet and colleague, bringing them to life. Poetry retains a very important status in the Arab world and adding abstarct images makes enchanting entertainment.

Othman was talented passionate, outgoing ,easy-going, loved, admired, respectful and inquisitive. A very unique person.
